At 30 square meters Tom and Holly’s basement was a large space to convert, allowing space to create a new lounge, gym area, utility space and a storage area. The main challenge of the cellar conversion was the existing floor, which was sloped and uneven. Underpinning and digging out the floor was required to create enough depth for the waterproofing system, floor insulation and the new floor slab.
The basement was damp, but with no standing water or signs it had been flooded, so a standard internal tanking system with single sump pump and aqua channel perimeter drainage was installed.
