Despite having a spacious home, Chris & Amanda had a typically small existing kitchen. The whole family are also keen musicians, and so required extra space to store and play their instruments.

The existing basement consisted of three large rooms which were very damp, and one of which required significant excavation to achieve the same headroom as the other two. The conversion of the cellar created a new much larger family sized kitchen with utility area, a specifically designed music room incorporating a home office space, and an extra shower room for the family.

Basement was damp and physically wet but not flooded. A dual sump pump system with mains back-up pump was installed to mitigate against any potential rise in ground water levels due to the excavation, which was reinforced with an aqua channel perimeter drainage system.
